Letting the tears fall

So for some reason, I often think that I won't let pregnancy hormones affect me (emotionally).......But man, they are strong things!!! Yesterday, I was finally tired enough physically and emotionally to let the previously, carefully controlled tears fall. God, in His overwhelming graciousness brought me close to Him in those tears....A friend randomly called to share her heart and perspective to encourage me and then spent time praying over me....Love phone prayer times! Letting those tears go and receiving a friend's love, so renewed me. I slept without wrestling in my dreams and woke early and not tired, which was such a blessing.

Why do I sometimes struggle so much with letting myself feel and be emotional? Why do we deny whole chunks of ourselves sometimes? I know we all do it, but is anyone else willing to admit it?

My new little buddy, Owen

Owen is the son of good friend’s of ours. We go to church together and are in the same small group. This Fall, they just returned from living in Jordan for 7 months. Their childcare provider from before they left had to change her schedule which didn’t work for our friends.....So long story short, I now get the privilege of taking care of Owen all day on Wednesdays and Thursdays! He is super cute and easy going which makes it a joy to watch him. Plus, now knowing we are having a little boy, taking care of Owen is taking on a whole new perspective, as I prepare and pray for our coming son!

Our Son the Cantaloupe/Banana

So each week on the website thebump.com they have a fruit or veggie that correlates to the size of your baby that week. I am almost 21 weeks so I am in between the cantaloupe and banana. Is it just me, or does the cantaloupe seem bigger than a banana??? (Banana is for 21 weeks) He is somewhere around 10-12oz and 6-10in. A lot of length is put on between 20 and 21 weeks. In week 21 his taste buds are done forming, which is incredible to think about.

And in case the news hasn't traveled past facebook and friends, I am not arbitrarily calling the baby a him. We found out at the 18week target ultrasound that we are definitely having a boy! Andrew is over the moon and looking forward to having a fly-fishing buddy. We had already decided to go with an outdoor, fishing theme if it was a boy. A friend suggested to make it a "really cool" outdoorsy, camping, fishing room, to put the crib inside a tent!!! I got a good laugh out of that imagine, but I think we will save the tent for real camping! :)

101 days left until......

101 days left until sweet kisses!!!!

Today is the halfway mark until Andrew is home. He left Colorado Springs 101 days ago today and is due home around Dec. 11th. In some ways these next 101 days seem like it will take longer than 101 we just went through. I think that is largely pregnancy related though. When he left we didn't know we were going to have a baby and when he gets back it will only be a few weeks from the due date. Wild, the changes that can happen in 202 days.
