"God made dirt...

And dirt don't hurt!" - often said by my good friend Laci and Asher seems to completely agree!

In case you are wondering why he is playing with a peanut butter container in the dirt...we had given it to Boots to lick out the remains...Asher found it in the yard and thought it was perfect to scoop dirt into....That is what I call recycling!!! :)

Dangerous?

I have been thinking more and more about whether I should make this blog private. Andrew's brother and I talked a lot about identity protection while we were on vacation and then my Dad called quite concerned about it too. I don't quite know what to do....
On one hand I don't want to chose fear, but on the other I don't want to be unwise either. If I password protect this blog, should I also do something about Facebook?
I am not a good journaler (if that's a word) and my follow-through is lacking most days, so the thought of making people jump through the hoop of emailing me to get the password (and me getting back to them!) and possibly not having anyone even want to get the password, makes me not want to go through it. I mean, honestly, if there was only the grandparents reading this, I don't think I would keep up with it all. We skype enough with them, that they don't need blog posts too!
Anyone out there struggle with this too? Those of you who password protect, do you feel more at peace? Friends with open blogs, do you do anything to "protect" yourself?

Little Helper

Asher loves to help with whatever we are doing....Making coffee? He wants to grind the beans. Feeding Boots? He wants to scoop the food. Throwing things away? He can too (never mind its toys, mini speakers, etc) Cleaning? Yup, he will help with that too!
Wouldn't be awesome if he grew up and continued to be so helpful and smiley at the same time :)

Handy Man

The weekend after graduation Andrew and his Uncle Mark built these incredible shelves in our garage! It was quite the way to spend Father's Day, but they didn't seem to mind too much. And thankfully there were no injuries in the process :)
Since these pictures were taken we gone through every box and purged a ton of stuff and redone the gym side of the garage. (Had to have adequate room for the gym, new motorcycle and my car!)
I think Mark and Andrew were debating here if they could start a side business in woodworking.... So nice to have my handy man around the house again!

Maybe...

You know you might need to start having your child wear more clothes when your neighbor acts completely shocked to see your child dressed and comments on every part of your child's outfit down to his shoes!
It's been 110, would you want to wear clothes in that heat!?!?!

5

That is the number of black widows we found around the outside of the house yesterday! 2 happened to be with 5 ft of where Asher plays with his water table multiple times a day! 1 of the 2 was literally hanging out almost directly overhead of the water table....
I did not love living here yesterday!

Not your average 9 to 5

Most days, during Andrew's normal work days, I don't think much about his job or the "dangerous" work environment we are in. Then I get a text like this:
"Brooks, I'm putting you down to assist with the kids in the event that ***** gets notified of my death. Ok with you?"
And my breath catches for minute. I remember the death plan we had to make when Andrew started TPS, and how we will have to make a new one for his new squadron and how much Andrew and my friend's spouses put on the line for work everyday, even when they say it isn't a big deal. Still glad we are serving in the military, but some days I get on my knees more often to thank the Lord for his protection over my husband and my friend's spouses!
